GIMNI (Gabungan Industri Minyak Nabati Indonesia, the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association) was established on 12 December 2006 for an indefinite period. It is a formally constituted association, founded by a deed of establishment drawn up by notary Buntario Tigris, S.H., S.E., M.H., and ratified by the Department of Justice and Human Rights under No. 249 dated 30 April 2007.
The association is based at Multivision Tower, 6th Floor, Jl. Kuningan Mulia, Jakarta. Its membership is built around the refining industry: vegetable oil processing covering refining and fractionation, kernel crushing plants (KCP) and copra crushing plants (CCP). These processing stages are often referred to together as RFM (Refining, Fractionation & Oil Modifications).
Because the RFM industry is expected to operate in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way, related industries that support environmentally sound operations may also become part of the association. One example is solvent extraction plants that recover the residual vegetable oil from spent bleaching earth, so that the material no longer falls into the category of B3 waste (hazardous and toxic materials, Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun).
