The fund is used for human resource development, research, promotion, replanting, and plantation facilities and infrastructure, including support for food needs, biofuels and downstream processing.
Key points

- Those required to pay the export levy are plantation businesses that export, businesses in industries using plantation produce as raw material, and exporters of plantation commodities and their derivatives.
- Levy rates and fines are set by the minister responsible for state finances; payment is made in rupiah, no later than the time the export customs declaration is submitted.
- Underpayment of the export levy may incur administrative sanctions in the form of fines.
- Contributions are charged only to plantation companies, not to individual smallholders, and may be applied periodically or at any time.
